It’s our philosophy that many hands make light work and as we grow, there are many seasonal positions at Lavender Pond Farm. Farming is demanding yet incredibly rewarding work and at LPF we take pride in our commitment to beautifying our land and our community.  Returning local college students are encouraged to apply. Jobs range from field work, retail, to event management and production. 

Available Positions:

Handyman
Lavender Pond Farm is a boutique lavender farm in Killingworth, Connecticut. We currently have more than 10,000 lavender plants spanning approximately 7 acres of fields. As our Handyman you will be involved in all aspects of the care, upkeep and maintenance of our fields and grounds.

This is a full time, seasonal position beginning ASAP. Weekends are required during “bloom” season and interaction with the public is an important component of the job.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain irrigation systems, including winterizing and spring start-up
  • Upkeep and repair of groundskeeping equipment
  • Light carpentry and outbuilding repairs and maintenance
  • Supervision of part-time field staff

Field Staff
Do you like to get dirty? It takes a lot of weeding and plenty of good old hard work to keep our farm looking pretty. As our Field Staff you will be involved in all aspects of the care, upkeep and maintenance of our fields and grounds while playing a huge roll in educating our visitors in all things Lavender.

This is a seasonal position beginning ASAP through September 1. Weekends are required during “bloom” season and interaction with the public is an important component of the job.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting guests and aiding in parking
  • Caring for plants in field and nursery
  • Maintenance of existing beds including cultivating, transplanting, weeding, and harvesting
  • Planting and landscaping of newly cultivated beds as required
  • Weeding of all landscaped beds and other areas
  • Maintenance and upkeep of paths and outdoor assembly areas

Requirements:

  • Previous farming and/or landscaping experience preferred
  • Ability to climb, crouch, lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs
  • A positive, friendly, make it happen approach
  • Current driver’s license and clean driving record

Shoppe Staff
Are you a customer service wizard who just happens to love lavender? If so, we’ve got a few shifts available in our very busy, seasonal, farm shoppe. The shoppe is open 7 days a week, 10am – 4pm.

This is a seasonal position up to 35 hours per week beginning ASAP through September 1. Weekends are required during “bloom” season and interaction with the public is an important component of the job.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting guests
  • Caring for plants near shoppe
  • Keeping the shoppe stocked, neat, and tidy :)

Requirements:

  • Previous retail experience necessary
  • amazing customer service
  • Knowledge in POS 
  • A positive, friendly, make it happen approach
  • Reliable transportation

Production Assistant
We’re looking for reliable help in our production department. Position available ASAP with potential to extend through December.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Bottling, labeling, and pricing of bath and body product
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs
  • Inventory - basic math skills a must
  • Able to maintain an organized, clean work environment
  • Follow direction and work independently 
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Take pride in finished work
  • Able to multi task
  • Able to tie bows .. a lot of them! :)
    **Hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10-2**

Production Assistant for Sewing
Love to sew? That's sew awesome because we could use your help. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Cut and sew fabric
  • Tag and price completed work
  • Maintain inventory of fabric and product
  • Fill blend of Lavender for product

Requirements:

  • Sewing experience
  • Team player
  • Follow direction and work independently 
  • Able to maintain an organized, clean work environment
  • Take pride in finished work
  • Able to multi task
  • Reliable Transportation
