Many (including us) consider lavender to be one of the most versatile herbs in the world. In addition to the fragrant blooms and crafting opportunities the plant provides, there are many antioxidant, antimicrobial, sedative and anti-depressive benefits.
Lavender oil has been used literally for centuries. Both the Romans and Egyptians used lavender oil as a perfume (and for mummification!) and early aromatherapists advocated lavender oil as an aid against digestive disease. And, in the Bible, lavender oil was used for anointing and healing.
Today, lavender is one of the most popular essential oils in the world. While science has only recently started to examine the benefits of lavender essential oil, it is likely the most popular essential oil in the world.
